EXL Series 500 Four-Outlet Foggers for Greenhouse Cooling

DIG’s EXL Series 500 four-outlet foggers produce very fine micro-sized droplets and are used to reduce temperature, increase humidity, and maintain conditions conducive to propagation, seeding, and cooling in greenhouse, hothouse, and shade house applications. Design flexibility is achieved with interchangeable nozzles to maximize a microclimate effect for cooling and humidifying effect.

EXL foggers should be installed above plant canopies in an upside down position to produce micro-sized droplets which evaporate quickly, leading to cooling conditions that reduce the surrounding temperature and increase humidity in greenhouses and hothouses. The foggers have an optional anti-leak device and operate at a pressure range of 35 to 80 PSI (2.4 to 5.5 bar) and nominal pressure of 50 PSI (3.5 bar). They utilize a vortex design to spin incoming water into a very fine mist, with higher incoming pressures resulting in smaller and finer droplets.

Due to the fine droplet size and four outlets per fogger, a closely spaced layout of foggers provides a blanket fog that envelops the area of application. The evaporation of water from the air, reduction of light transmission, and removal of water vapor deposits from leaf surfaces by air movement, leads to overall lower temperatures and a better yield. The relative humidity inside a greenhouse can be increased by an average of 20% to 25%.

In today’s horticulture, it is important to maintain hot and humid levels for greenhouse cultivation, but closed-structure greenhouses often become too hot when high levels of solar radiation occur. If interior summer temperatures are to be kept near or below outside ambient temperatures, some form of cooling must be provided. Cooling a greenhouse with EXL foggers can provide the desired growing conditions during the hot season. When using EXL foggers, air temperature is reduced through evaporation of the fine water droplets in the air. As water is evaporated, energy is lost from the air, reducing the temperature.

Features

  • Supports optimal cooling or humidifying conditions in greenhouse applications by reducing temperature and increasing humidity
  • Operates in a normal pressure range of 35 to 80 PSI with high uniformity
  • Produces a droplet size of 50 to 100 microns (100 m at 50 PSI)
  • Incorporates a vortex mechanism, reducing incoming water into micro-sized droplets
  • Used for overhead cooling and humidifying in a closed structure
  • Available in four color-coded interchangeable nozzles
  • Available with a dependable high-pressure, anti-leak device with one or four foggers assemblies
  • Anti-leak device prevents damage to sensitive plants caused by dripping at the beginning and end of each irrigation cycle
  • Due to lower operating pressure, the foggers experience less wear, resulting in less maintenance with overall lower operating costs
  • Manufactured from superior durable plastics with UV protection for extended life operation
